Today is Flag Day - June 14th!

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

Did you know Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777?

The resolution passed by the Second Continental Congress on that day read: “Resolved: that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

The words of the resolution demonstrate the need for unity in our new nation.

Sadly, as the email below shows, some people think the Betsy Ross flag—one of our new nation’s first flags—no longer promotes unity in America.

Take a moment to read the message below, and I hope you’re flying our national flag on this Flag Day!
