Put Common SENSE back in the CENSUS. Comment by Nov 2nd.

People who are in the United States illegally should not be counted or considered for the apportionment of congressional seats. Congressmen represent American citizens and their interests.
The United States Census Bureau has proposed updates to federal census regulations to help ensure the 2030 census accurately counts American citizens and the mistakes made in the 2020 census don’t happen again.
This newly proposed rule would:
1. Prohibit counting illegal aliens and temporary lawful residents in the final Census report that is used for apportionment.
2. Eliminate the various demographic categories that exist solely to serve leftist messaging.
The proposed rule would remove illegal aliens and temporary residents from the congressional apportionment count by restoring the historic definition of “usual residence” as it relates to individuals counted in the Census.
The rule cites Supreme Court precedent in upholding the historic reading of the term to include not only one’s physical presence in the country, but also “an element of allegiance or enduring tie to a place.”This change cannot come soon enough. It's dishonest to include non-citizens who hold no allegiance to the United States and reward the criminals who shouldn't be in our country.
The Census Bureau also has an opportunity to further strengthen the final rule by specifying exactly how the Census Bureau would determine legal status.
The Supreme Court has already held that the Constitution “lawfully permits the Census Bureau to at least inquire about citizenship on the census questionnaire.” Questions regarding citizenship and green card questions should be thoughtfully considered.
The second change would eliminate the lifeblood of the Left’s identity politics games. For decades, the Left has infected the Census with prompts distorting data to bolster their long-term policy goals.
The creation of additional demographic categories such as “Asian Americans” and “Hispanics” obscure the true point of a census and exist only to steer policy and funds toward favored groups.
The census is not just a boring, routine counting of the nation’s inhabitants. It is used to allocate congressional seats and inform other policy decisions. These changes would help ensure the Census is accurate.
