Good afternoon! I wanted to update my key supporters on several items:
Continue to execute on media plan with early voting starting in 17 days:
Radio ads started last week on WTZQ and next week on WHKP through election day. I am very happy how that radio spot turned out.
I have a TV ad starting today on streaming platforms. Check it the ad here. I am very pleased with it. This ad is targeted to the three primary zip codes in the city, and I am hopeful this will be impactful. I also have it on my FB page and website, and you are free to use it and repost it. I will have the same ad that will air 39 times on Fox News on traditional cable at key time slots right before early voting starts. If you see this ad, please let me know!
I and other volunteers have put out all 100 yard signs I purchased, but thanks to a generous donor, I am able to buy another 50 that should arrive this week. Those will be helpful.
Block walking continuing in multiple precincts. It will be virtually impossible to do as much as I had hoped I could do. It is so impactful and we have great conversations, but I am going to have to rely on all the other aspects of my media strategy.
Volunteers continue to call about 1800 registered republicans – particularly focused on explaining that if they really want a conservative on council, while they can vote for two, it’s best just to vote for me (same message used in block walking and on upcoming texting to Republicans before early voting starts)
Next round of direct mail is finalized and targeted to republicans and UNA who vote republican, and is targeted to be in mail boxes by about 10/6 or so.
Planning started for poll observers for early voting. Staffing this will be a challenge. If you want to help, sign up here.
Planning for the 2nd mass text right before early voting starts (4 rounds planned). From this point forward, I will focus on registered republicans and UNA who vote republican.
A couple events coming up this coming weekend. Details are on my website. One of the events at Sullivan Park is being organized by Debbie Roundtree, who was previously on council. I have maintained a good relationship with Debbie since I first met her. She is very influential in the black community and she is supporting me. That will be a great help in the black community.
From a fundraising standpoint, I have raised more than $17,000 to date that is paying for all this! That is really hard to believe. I am very humbled and grateful for the support. It has wildly exceeded my expectations and has allowed me to do the things necessary to win this race. At this point, I do not have all the TV ads paid for that I would like to do. My goal short term is to raise another $5k or so that can pay for the rest of that and give me a little cushion for miscellaneous expenses I will have until after the election is over. If I was able to raise more than the $5k, then I would likely expand the radio/TV advertising. If you know others who might be willing to help fund my campaign, please let me know. Whether they live in the city or not, what happens to Hendersonville will impact everyone on the county.
I have been contacted by various LGBTQ+ organizations, including an invitation to a candidate forum. I have no trust that this will be anything other than a setup with “gotcha” questions, so I decided not to participate. I did get a 4-question survey from PFLAG that I decided to answer. But just in case they decide to do any creative editing, I added a page on my website to address my stance in general on these issues and my strong belief the city needs to stay out of it. It’s divisive.

Good morning! I wanted to update you on several items. I am busy on multiple fronts to plan specific campaign activities including direct mail, texting, phone calling, advertising, signage, block walking and poll greeting. I also have to continue to raise funds. I have raised about half of what I need to run the campaign. For all who have donated once or multiple times, I greatly appreciate your support! Several items:
I have my yard signs now. I have dropped off some at the GOP headquarters, but happy to arrange to get you some if you want them.
I will be putting up two large 4x8’ signs this week on Spartanburg Hwy (thanks to Jeff Justus) and on Kanuga (thanks to Marilyn Gordon). I have a couple locations in town for 2.5x4’ signs as well and they should go up soon. I am looking for additional locations of major corridors in the city if you know of any locations.
I am planning on block walking and will be looking for volunteers. I have 5 Saturdays starting 9/12-10/10 targeted for concentrated efforts focused primarily on HV1 and HV3. Corrine and I will focus on HV-2 personally, and we will do as much as we can in other precincts. Block walking is very important. We are targeting about 3,800 households for block walking, but it will depend on the number of volunteers. While it seems early to discuss, it was important to get my plans in place to order the collateral needed. Here is the link to sign up.
I am also planning for poll greeters for early voting that starts 10/15-10/31 at the Board of Elections, and on Election Day primarily in HV1-3. Again, while it is early, I needed to make some decisions to order collateral. Here is the link for early voting and here is the link for election day.

July Campaign Update
Hi all. Wanted to update you on my campaign...and some things I need! Hendersonville City Council race.
We had good response at the 4th of July Parade! Thanks to all who helped with that. We got good feedback from the crowd on my “common sense” theme. Here is a video of that event.
I was interviewed on the Kudzu Project Podcast and that will air Monday. I will also post that on my FB page.
I plan on having a table at the Asheville Gun & Knife Show in Fletcher on 7/18 and 7/19. While that show draws a lot of folks from all over, there are always a lot of folks from Hendersonville, or know those who live in the city so I think it will be worth my time.
I am working with some of you on locations for larger signs and I greatly appreciate that help, but am in need of locations on Spartanburg Hwy, Church and/or King or other major thoroughfares in the city. Or if you are in the city and want to put a 2.5x4’ or 1.7x3’ sign in your yard, that would be good. I will have smaller yard signs but right now I want to focus on getting some larger signs placed.
My focus will start to shift now to planning for block walking, direct mail, mass texting, and advertising. None of that will start likely until late August or early September, but I have a lot of work to do to get ready.
I am always looking for opportunities to speak to groups so if you can facilitate that with groups you are involved with, I would also greatly appreciate that.
A note on fundraising...I have raised about half of what I need to run the campaign the way I need to. I greatly appreciate those who have donated and supported me. I am in this race to win it.
