I see that there is an ongoing concern about violence in our city and county.
You may ignore what I am about to say because the politics of our leaders will not allow you to act on the truth.
You need to look at the role of cannabis/marijuana/hemp in violence. The evidence of the connection is overwhelming. The evidence is attached. But our city council and county leaders are pro cannabis and they do not want to hear this.
However, since your role is public safety and such a concern may make you more open minded to the truth, here are some suggestions
Drug test all violent offenders. All jail inmates and those arrested. Especially domestic violence crimes and young violent offenders and DWI and child abusers and mass shootings.
If there is marijuana present, then mandate they get treatment as part of any resolution. If they do not cooperate put them in jail. I did this with DWI offenders in New Jersey and I had the lowest recidivism rate in the country.
Close down the open sources of high potency cannabis. We have more cannabis stores than Starbucks. See the attached advertisement. Some of these stores are selling high potency Delta 9 THC. This is illegal under state and federal law. High potency THC causes psychosis. See the attached. One store has marijuana plants in their window. How about stopping in and get rid of those plants so kids do not see them?
If people test positive for cannabis ask where they got it from and take appropriate action.
