Henderson County Open Space Preservation Bond. Vote NO.

We have a major problem in Henderson on our November Ballot

that you need to be aware.

Tea Time Thursday, September 17th, 2026 at Bay Breeze Restaurant at Noon will tackle this and welcome our Henderson County School Board candidates: Sheila Dale, Randy Beaver, and Alyssa Norman. We need to support them along with Jeff Groh for City Council.

 ATP PAC is recommending a NO VOTE on the Open Space Preservation Bond on your November ballot. Once farmland is developed, it is gone forever. This looks like a sneaky corporate/government strategy of wrestling private property away from owners and they want taxpayers to pay for the land transfer - aka easement. Vote No.  :( Remember: We are for the preservation of individual rights - property rights. Government takeover is never an option. (Our mission.)

The underlying problem is the North Carolina General Assembly’s 2026 budget bill — the 2026 Appropriations Act, Session Law 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) — that was signed into law on July 7, 2026, includes major amendments to the state’s zoning and development statutes that significantly reshapes the legal landscape for local governments and developers alike. They set us up. We effectively have no more zoning restrictions in NC. This opens the door for this boondoggle scheme to weasel more money out of taxpayers to 'preserve land'. If we had proper zoning, farmland would be farmland and not up for grabs by corporate developers. Your taxes are going to go up substantially. $40.40 per $400,000 of property assessment. How much is your property worth? As your property values increases each year, so will this 'bill.'

 This bond issue is a result of mismanagement by our Henderson County Commissioners of uncontrolled building and land development in Henderson County. SB257 sponsored by Republicans passed this year and gets rid of zoning in NC. Taxpayers should not be paying for their egregious trampling of our individual rights.

 Republican (and Democrat) Senators from WNC including Henderson, Haywood, and Buncombe & others voted to eliminate zoning. When are YOU going to stop feeding the RINOS!
